Matshlta, As this thread has been quiet for a while, we assume that the issue has been resolved. It gradually slows down your drive speed till it breaks.

Monday, January 3, 5: Symptoms started with “bad disk” or “corrupted data” went back and forward from not reading CD’s but reading DVDs and vice versa to finally creating only coaster discs when try to use it as a burner and major data corruption when installing software. Like it doesn’t exist.
My Matshita dvd is on the device manager list with the error “Windows cannot load driver Code 39 “. Im not going to pay for something that seems to be a common occurance with this company. Wednesday, March 26, 9: Even tried the registry thing. Friday, January 22, 5: I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, disabling and enabling and even checked Windows Update for newer driver updates and it says Mattshita have the most recent driver.
